Overview

This model TF-600 semi-automatic tank filling machine is a net weight or a volumetric liquid filling system designed for an operator on a platform above the vehicle to fill a tank truck. When filling by weight the truck would be resting on a scale. When volumetric filling, the scale is not necessary.

A description of operation is shown below for both net weight and volumetric filling methods

The infeed flow of liquid might be pumped through the line, or it might be forced through the line by over-pressure of a tank. The rate of liquid flowing through the line determines the filling time. The standard lance is 6” diameter, but chosen when determining the rate of liquid input and the product viscosity.

Description of Operation - Net Weight Filling

This model TF-600 is a net weight liquid filling machine for tank trucks. It is a mechanical system that allows an operator to fill the truck.

  • The tanker drives onto a scale and stops.
  • An operator on a platform above the truck extends the arm into position then opens the cap.
  • By pressing the brake release button on the handle, the pivoting boom is released to maneuver the lance over the fill opening.
  • By releasing the pushbutton, the boom and carriage are locked into place.
  • The operator will determine the amount of liquid to fill into the truck by setting the control.
  • A press of the start button will signals the flow control inlet valve to open.
  • Filling begins and continues until the desired net weight is achieved.
  • The scale will signal the filler to stop at the pre-set weight.
  • This fill by weight system assures extreme accuracy of gallons placed into the tank.
  • When completed, the operator will activate a hand switch to close the foot valve to prevent dripping and move an air lever to raise the lance to its home position.
  • The operator will then press a button on the handle to move the pivoting boom aside so he can close the cap on the truck.

Description of Operation - Volumetric Filling

This model TF-600 is also a volumetric liquid filling machine for tank trucks.

  • The operator will determine the amount of liquid to fill into the truck by setting the meter.
  • A press of the start button will signals the flow control inlet valve to open.
  • Filling begins and continues until the desired volume is achieved.
  • When completed, the operator will activate a hand switch to close the foot valve to prevent dripping and move an air lever to raise the lance to its home position.
  • The operator will then press a button on the handle to move the pivoting boom aside so he can close the cap on the truck.

Technical Specifications

This is a mechanical system that will allow an operator to position a filling lance over the opening of a tank truck before filling the truck. The system has an X,Y,Z axis and consists of the following components:

  • Lance is 6” diameter, made from stainless steel.
  • Air operated foot valve with stainless metal-to-metal seal at end of lance.
  • Lawnmower type operator handle with access to pushbuttons.
  • Rod-less air cylinder raises and lowers the lance, 40” stroke.
  • Valve lock-out if lance is not in the down position.
  • Hand operated air valve for the up and down lance motion- (Z axis).
  • Air operated pushbutton for releasing and locking carriage and boom.
  • Air operated switch for the foot valve operation.
  • 4” x 6” structural steel pivoting boom with 90 degree arc – (X axis).
  • Air operated brake caliper for the X axis pivoting arm.
  • Steel V-grooved carriage assembly with heavy duty cam rollers.
  • Lance carriage has 60” in and out stroke – (Y axis).
  • 150 lb. ANSI flange connection.
  • Air operated brake caliper for the in and out lance carriage.
  • Steel mounting plate for attachment to canopy rack.
  • Welded structural steel frame and components, enamel painted.
