Overview

This air operated lift and tilt machine was designed to empty liquid or dry solids in 30 to 55 gallon steel, fiber and plastic drums, up to 750 lbs. The system contains two air cylinders that lift the drum vertically and another two cylinders that tilt the drum 120 degrees to dump the contents into a blender. A pedestal mounted forward and reverse toggle switch is provided for the operator.

This drum dumper is built with special hold-down tabs that prevent the plastic liner from falling out of the drum. A gravity roller conveyor mounted on the cradle allows the operator to easily load and unload drums. The normal dumping cycle is four drums per minute with an open-top, 55 gallon drum filled with water.

Description of Operation

This semi-automatic, drum dumper is pneumatically operated, built with two air cylinders that raise the drum and two more air cylinders create the dumping process

  • An operator guides an open-mouth drum onto the cradle of the dumper
  • The operator pulls the plastic liner out and folds it over the sides
  • The operator then moves a toggle switch to activate the machine
  • The drum cradle moves vertically three feet, (or whatever is needed) and stops
  • Another pair of air cylinders rotates the drum 120 degrees and stops
  • The contents of the drum empties out while the machine holds the drum in the cradle
  • The operator then moves the toggle to return the cradle to its home position
  • The cycle repeats for a rate of four drums per minute, using 55 gallons of water
